VITA
David Engelman is a Brazilian artist born in the city of Curitiba in the southern state of Paraná. This is where he currently lives.
When he was six years old, his father died. Such a loss, at such a young age, greatly influenced the development of the young boy’s sensitive and empathetic perspective of the world. The pain and melancholy of his childhood would eventually help him to view and realize the dualism of life—the beauty, the ugliness, the order and the chaos, the joy and the pain. These antithetical qualities appear over and over in the oeuvre of his work.
